Lake Tovel

Slightly lower in altitude than Lake Braies, it’s still a beautiful and easy place to visit. Fall was (and still is!) a bit late when we visited Tovel, so the larch trees were not as yellow as I’d have liked.

Keep in mind that it’s quite crowded on weekends and holidays and there is the option to book a spot in the parking lot that is closest to the lake, otherwise you’ll have to park farther away and use a free shuttle service to get to and from the lake. All parking requires payment and it was cash-only when we visited.

The whole tour around the lake takes a couple hours – or much more, if you keep stopping to take pictures!

There are few places to eat on location, but they might be closed during winter.
