PoTM: Form and Shape

I don’t often capture abstract images – and you could argue that this isn’t one – but sometimes there are mundane details that capture my attention and require to be photographed.

Form and Shape is one of those instances.

My life loves to keep flowers and plants at home, especially because we live in an apartment building, and this photo freezes the instant when a purple Chrysanthemum was in full bloom on our balcony.

I call it an abstract image because you can understand what it is despite not being entirely visible. Being black and white, I believe, augments the abstractness of this picture by giving priority to form and shape and removing the color dimension.

I think this image works very well when printed in a large format because that further removes the sense of scale and makes it even more abstract.
