How Many Photos Are Too Many?

I have over 1,100 photos published on my website.
Is that too many?

It’s not an easy question to answer. Yes, it’s a lot, but…

That number represents only about 14% of the photographs I’ve post-processed and less than 5% of the total images I’ve captured – since the beginning of time.

I strive to keep my online presence as clean and curated as possible, especially my portfolio on the front page. Curation is an ongoing process.

Over time, I discover new photos that feel more worthy of being showcased, so I remove older ones to keep the collection manageable.

After all, most visitors only scroll through the front page. Few explore the deeper galleries – hidden corners of my website where 90% of my photos live, like secret gardens waiting to be found.

As I evolve, so does my work. My taste, my understanding of photography – everything shifts. Naturally, the selection of images on my site changes too.

But does that answer the original question?

If someone were to view all 1,100 images at once, it would take days. But my galleries are designed as cohesive sets, making them easier to explore and absorb.

So, is 1,100 too many?
Maybe. Almost. But not quite.
