This solitary, weathered red telephone box caught my eye as we drove through Shetland. I hesitated, didn’t stop – and instantly regretted it.
Some scenes simply demand to be captured, and this was one of them.
It had all the right elements: a minimalist composition, a striking subject, and an atmospheric backdrop that added to its charm.

So, on our way back, I made sure to pull over and press the shutter.
There’s a certain loneliness to it, a quiet melancholy – but that’s the beauty of Shetland on a gloomy day, isn’t it?
As usual, Red Remnants is available as a print on demand.
